Mt. Kisco Trustee Morreale Declines to Run Again

In his decision, Morreale cites his responsibilities as professor at Pace University.

Joseph Morreale has decided not to run for a second term to Mount Kisco's village board of trustees, citing a need for commitment to his job as a Pace University professor.

"It has been a difficult decision because I have very much enjoyed working with the Mayor and the other board members and also giving my service to the Village of Mt. Kisco," he said in a Tuesday statement. "I have always believed in giving back to community and it was an honor for me to have been elected on the first try by the residents of Mt. Kisco. But my role and duties at Pace University have expanded to involve more travel with development of international programs."

Morreale, an economics and public administration professor, is currently on a six-week study program in Shanghai, China and will be missing trustee meetings until July. He was first elected to the village board in 2010 on the Democratic Party ticket. Before that he served for years on Mount Kisco's planning board.

There are two village board seats, each with two-year terms, up for election this year. Trustee Jean Farber, who holds the other seat, said she will run again, and that Mount Kisco Democrats will meet to finalize who they are supporting.
