CHAPPAQUA, NY — A New Castle resident faces criminal charges after a Planning Board meeting during which he disrupted speakers and refused to leave.

Will Wedge was charged with two counts of second-degree harassment, a misdemeanor, and one count of obstructing governmental administration, a Class A misdemeanor, according to the Examiner.

He spoke to the Planning Board Tuesday night about the controversial Sunshine Children’s Home expansion proposal. He accused town employees and board members of poor work and decision-making vis-a-vis the children's hospital.

"What the staff is giving you is crap," he told the Planning Board members, saying they were ceding authority. He then sat down, but continued interjecting, and interrupted board counsel Jennifer Gray with a profanity. Board officials told him he had to leave. When he wouldn't, they called police to escort him out. Deputy Town Engineer Bob Cioli told Planning Board members that Wedge hit him on the chest as he left.

Examiner Reporter Martin Wilbur said Wedge could be heard shouting downstairs. The Examiner quoted New Castle Police Chief Charles Ferry saying that an ambulance took Wedge to Northern Westchester Hospital for a thumb injury.
