Snowfall Totals Across Long Island

An intense band of wind-blown snow smacked the region Friday morning, dropping up to 2 inches in some areas in just a couple of hours.

The heavier than expected snow, which created messy driving conditions during rush hour, has now moved on, with a dry and cold weekend on tap, but here’s a look at the unofficial National Weather Service snowfall totals reported across the island Friday:

Nassau

• Levittown- 2.1 inches
• Old Bethpage- 2 inches
• Valley Stream- 2 inches
• Westbury- 2 inches
• Plainview- 2 inches
• Floral Park- 2 inches
• Merrick- 1.9 inches
• Woodbury- 1.5 inches
• Massapequa 1.3 inches
• North Wantagh- 1.3 inches

Suffolk

• Baiting Hollow- 2 inches
• Melville- 2 inches
• Mattituck- 1.9 inches
• Smithtown- 1.7 inches
• Lake Ronkonkoma- 1.5 inches
• Riverhead- 1.5 inches
• MacArthur Airport- 1.2 inches
• Upton- 1.2 inches
• Southampton- .5 inches

The latest NWS forecast:

• Today- Sunny, with a high near 24. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. West wind 10 to 14 mph.
• Tonight- Mostly clear, with a low around 14. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. West wind 6 to 8 mph.
• Sunday- Partly sunny, with a high near 32. Wind chill values between 10 and 20. Light west wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning.
• Sunday Night- A slight chance of rain after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 29. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Monday- A chance of rain and snow before 9am, then rain and sleet likely between 9am and noon, then rain likely after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 40. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Monday Night- A chance of rain before 9pm, then a chance of snow between 9pm and midnight. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 21. Blustery. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
