UPDATE: Police ID Man Charged in Armed Robbery of Deer Park Bagel Store
Robbery occurred early Monday morning.

Update 8:50 p.m.: Police have identified the man arrested as 47-year-old Anthony Giella, of Moriches. He is charged with first degree robbery.

A man armed with a gun robbed Deer Park’s Steve’s Hot Bagels & Bakery early Monday morning, but he was caught soon after, police said.

The robbery occurred at 5:15 a.m. at the store in Deer Hills Plaza at 2142 Deer Park Avenue, police said.
Police said a man displayed what appeared to be a handgun and then stole the entire cash register.

The man fled the scene, but he was apprehended by police a short time later, police said.
Police have not yet released the suspected robber’s identity and police said the robbery is not connected to a pattern of recent armed robberies in the area, including two at Deer Park gas stations.
