Black History Month Celebration In Sag Harbor Sunday
Diversity, traditions and culture will be shared through food at the event held at the Bay Street Theater.

SAG HARBOR, NY — A unique celebration of Black History Month unfolds Sunday in Sag Harbor.
The Third Annual Black History Month Celebration, "At Our Table: Sharing Diversity, Traditions and Culture through Food”, takes place Sunday, as Sylvester Manor Educational Farm, in partnership with Eastville Community Historical Society, presents the event at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
"This program will explore the intersection of culture, economics, and social structure in our food system, from the rich cultural diversity of the East End from pre-Colonial times through the present," a release said.

The program will begin at 2 p.m. with a visual presentation and panel discussion moderated by Dr. Georgette Grier-Key, executive director of Eastville, and will feature an array of speakers who represent the traditional and emerging food cultures of the area.
Immediately following the presentation, there will be a reception featuring samplings of a wide array of cultural dishes, as well as displays of traditional cooking artifacts.

Panelists this year will include:
- Diane Fish, Colonial food historian, who has worked at the Suffolk County Archaeological Association for the past 21 years, teaching native life and colonial programs to school groups from all over Long Island and Queens.
- Bennett Konesni, co-founder and chief ambassador of Shelter Island's Sylvester Manor Educational Farm.
- Josephine Smith, a member of the Shinnecock Nation who teaches and continues to use traditional tribal recipes and cooking methods.
- Representatives from Organization Latino-Americana of Eastern Long Island.
