Bridgehampton School Starts Fundraising Campaign to Help Build Hall of Fame

The school is hoping to raise the money by Jan. 31.

The Bridgehampton School recently started a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter in order to help raise money to build a Hall of Fame for the school.

According to the page, created by Athletic Director and Phys Ed teacher Mike Miller, the school wants to create the hall to in order to recognize the accomplishments of the students and staff who have made the school the ”little engine that can.”

“We are a really small, tight-knit, rural school smack in the middle of the glamorous Hamptons,” the page reads, “However, contrary to what most people would think, over 50 percent of our students receive subsidies for breakfast and lunch and do not live in lofty mansions. With just over 200 students, from very diverse backgrounds, our pre-k to 12th grade school community operates as a family, where everyone is accepted and everyone has a place.”

The Hall of Fame would recognize the accomplishments of local residents such as: the basketball players who have won an amazing six New York State Championships in Class D Basketball, the robotics team that became Division Finalists in the FIRST World championships, the farmers and fishermen who have farmed and fished out here for upwards of 16 generations, and the graduates who have excelled in professional sports, academics, music, and art.

“Our small school has a lot to be proud of. Notwithstanding, there have been some vocal critics over the years who have challenged the very existence of our school and who have not understand what transpires in our hallways,” Miller wrote on the page. “This Wall of Fame will serve as a testament to the teaching, learning and culture of Bridgehampton School.”
