Community Celebrates Opening of East Hampton Library's New Young Adult Room

The event included a pizza contest, the unveiling of a student-created wall mural, and fun for all.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — The East Hampton Library celebrated the ribbon-cutting opening celebration of its new Young Adult Room Saturday at noon.

The community was invited to take a first look at the exciting new space designed by Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership (LHSA+DP). Members of the library's teen advisory board cut the ribbon for the official opening.

East Hampton Library Director Dennis Fabiszak, Young Adult Librarian Lisa Michne and President Sheila Rogers spoke to the standing room only crowd.

The celebration also featured songs by the East Hampton High School camerata group, as well as a pizza contest — with five local pies competing to be the big cheese — the announcement of the top three winners of the local teen photo contest, and the dramatic unveiling of the first student-created wall mural to decorate the wall of the new YA Room.
