EAST HAMPTON, NY — The East Hampton community is opening its arms to help the wife and children left behind after their beloved husband and father died suddenly.

A GoFundMe page, "In Memory of Jasón Gonzalez for His Family," was created by Daniela Bennett and four other organizers on behalf of Ana P. Leon.

"We just experienced the tremendous loss of a loving son, husband, father, brother and a very dear friend," the page said, adding that Jason A. Gonzalez passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 16.

"He leaves behind a wife , Tatiana and three young children — Lucas, Anali and Tavi. He was the light of his kids' eyes, always saying that walking in the door and hearing his kids yell 'Papi! Papi!' was his greatest accomplishment. The kind of love he and his wife shared will live on forever and continue to live on in their children."

Gonzalez, his friends said, was always an extremely hardworking man. "A man of honor who always worked hard to give his family everything they ever needed. Everyone who knew Jay would always say he would be the first to lend a hand and give the shirt off his back."

The page was set up to help ease the financial burden for his family during the difficult and unexpected tragedy, organizers said.

All funds will be given directly to the family to help to pay for funeral expenses, and to help the young family Gonzalez left behind. "Please find it in your heart to help a man who would help anyone, anytime. Jay will always be loved and his legacy will live on forever!"
