CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED MODERNIST ARTIST GERSON LEIBER FEATURED AT LEONARD TOURNE GALLERY
Gerson Leiber, an acclaimed modernist artist and resident of East Hampton, will be in a major show at the Leonard Tourne Gallery in NYC
Gerson Leiber, a modernist painter and resident of the Springs hamlet of East Hampton, who has been producing acclaimed works of art since 1946, will have his paintings featured in a group show at the Leonard Tourne Gallery in Manhattan. Leiberβs painting, Diary of a Gambling Man, will be the largest canvas on exhibition at the show.
Gerson Leiberβs reputation ranks high in artistic circles, and it is no surprise that his work has been praised by such eminent art critics, curators, and artists as Will Barnet, Hilton Kramer, Ruth Appelhof, Gail Levin, Avis Berman, Phyllis Braff, and Bernice Steinbaum, among various others.
Will Barnet wrote: βGerson Leiber is a painter with full control over his vocabulary of means.β And Ruth Appelhof, the director of Guild Hall in East Hampton, wrote: βGerson Leiber [is] one of a pantheon of outstanding 20th Century artistsβ¦has explored styles, even movements, with dexterity of a gifted, extremely self-confident person always expressing his own aesthetic at the core of his work.β

In addition to being honored with numerous exhibitions, Gerson Leiber has received more than a dozen awards and honors for his work which is in such prestigious collections as The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum, The Boston Museum of Fine Art, The Philadelphia Museum of Fine Art, Seattle Museum of Art, and The Yale University Art Gallery as well as many other museums.
