Dog Training Classes Back at Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons

EAST HAMPTON, NY - For dogs that need a bit of guidance, the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons is set to kick off dog training classes again at the ARF Adoption Center.

Here's a list of course offerings:

ARF's Dog Obedience 101 Basic & Intermediate

Friday, April 1 and Saturday and Sunday, April 2 and 3

Dogs and their handlers will learn basic obedience using positive reinforcement techniques. Curriculum includes Leash Handling, Let’s Go, Turning Techniques, Stay/Stand, Sit/Stay, Down/Stay, Leave It, Come, No Jumping and Leash Pulling Prevention Exercises.

When: Basic: Friday afternoon 3 to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday mornings 9 to 10 a.m.

Intermediate: Saturday and Sunday mornings 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Friday classes: April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Saturday classes: April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Sunday classes: April 3, 10, 17, 24 and May 1

Where: ARF Adoption Center, 91 Daniels Hole Road, Wainscott

Tuition: $150 for five classes ($125 for ARF dogs adopted within the last 12 months)

ARF’s Puppy Kindergarten

Saturday, April 2

Train your puppy early. It will pay off over a lifetime. Classes focus on socialization, interactive skills and simple obedience. Bring the whole family, fun for all!

When: Saturday at 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Saturday classes: April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Where: ARF Adoption Center, 91 Daniels Hole Road, Wainscott

Tuition: $150 for Five Classes ($125 for ARF puppies adopted within the last 12 months)

ARF’s AKC® Canine Good Citizen ® CGC Prep Class

Saturday, April 2

CGC Prep Class is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.

When: Saturday afternoon from 2 to 3 p.m.

Saturday classes: April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Where: ARF Adoption Center, 91 Daniels Hole Road, Wainscott

Tuition: $200 for five classes

ARF’s Off Leash Dog Obedience

Sunday, April 3

Dogs and their handlers will learn healing off leash, long distance sit and recall, targeting skills for better control, out of site down/stay and directed off leash jumping and retrieving.

**Must graduate intermediate obedience to enroll.

When: Sunday afternoons 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Classes: April 3, 10, 17, 24, May 1

Where: ARF Adoption Center, 91 Daniels Hole Road, Wainscott

Tuition: $150 for five classes
