Drunk Driver Found Slumped Over in Running Car: Police

BREAKING: The man had his foot on the accelerator, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A drunk man was arrested after he was found slumped in the driver's seat of a 1997 Chevrolet, with the key in the ignition, the engine running, and his foot on the accelerator, with the car parked, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Manuel C. Quezada, 41, of East Hampton, was arrested on Jan. 3 at 7:30 p.m. on Malone Street in East Hampton.

Upon investigation, he was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and slurred speech, and upon exiting the vehicle, he was unsteady on his feet; he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, and operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent alcohol or more in blood, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
