East End Projects Receive Economic Development Grants

The grants were awarded by Governor Andrew Cuomo on Thursday.

State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr., (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor) recently announced that several East End projects have received several economic development grants awarded by Governor Andrew Cuomo on Thursday through the Regional Economic Development Councils (REDC).

This year, the 10 Regional Councils competed for funding and assistance from up to $750 million in state economic development resources as part of the REDC competition.

Long Island was a “Top Performer Awardee” of $98.3 million to support 121 projects that focus on several key initiatives for regional growth.

A number of those projects that will benefit the East End, including:

  • Hampton Jitney, I LOVE NY Bus Marketing - $45,000
  • Atlantic Fluid Power, Inc., Quality Management Training - $56,800
  • Community Development Corp. of L.I., Building Mixed-Use Facility in Downtown Riverhead - $275,000
  • East End Arts Humanities Council, Winterfest Live on the Vine Festival - $ 63,000
  • Incorporated Village of Mastic Beach, Walkable Business District Feasibility Study - $25,000
  • Manna Fish Farms, Inc., Pod Array Installation - $50,000
  • North Harbor Trading, High Pressure Processing Facility for Food Industry in Riverhead - $1,250,000
  • Stony Brook University, Shinnecock Bay Restoration Project - $505,658
  • Suffolk County Community College, Campus Green Roofs Initiative - $203,708
  • S.C. Dept. of Economic Development, Construction of Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Facility - $1,000,000
  • Town of East Hampton, Green Reach Infrastructure Demo Project at Three Mile Harbor - $375,000
  • Town of East Hampton, Economic Analysis Strategy Development of Fisheries Industry - $25,000
  • Town of Riverhead, Cesspool Disconnection to Protect Peconic Estuary Waters - $580,000
  • Town of Riverhead, Enhanced Shared Water Infrastructure (EPCAL water supply) - $125,000
  • Town of Southampton, Construct Permeable Reactive Barrier at Iron Point Park - $650,000
  • Town of Southampton, Good Ground Park Gateway in Flanders - $70,000
  • Town of Southampton, Good Ground Park Development Gateway in Flanders - $330,192
  • Village of Mastic Beach, Revitalization Plan Addressing Community Waterfront - $ 17,175

“These economic development grants represent a major commitment by the State of New York to take the lead in creating jobs and improving the economy,” Thiele said. “I am pleased that Long Island was chosen for such substantial funding and that the businesses and communities in my District will benefit.”
