East Hampton Drunk Driver Slapped With Felony Charge: Police

BREAKING: The man was caught driving drunk with a suspended license, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton man was caught driving drunk with a suspended license, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Damacio Urizar-Reyes, 39, was arrested on March 13 at 9:11 p.m. on Floyd Street.

He allegedly drove across hazard markings, failed to keep right and failed to use designated lane, police said.

Upon investigation, he was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, his speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and he was unsteady on his feet; he also consented to, and performed poorly on, all standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.

In addition, Urizar-Reyes was charged with first degree aggravated unlicensed operation: commit aggravated unlicensed operation second/alcohol or drugs, a felony, police said; his license was revoked, police said.

Finally, Urizar-Reyes was charged with operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent alcohol or more in blood, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.

Cash bail was set at $5,000, police said.
