Hamptons Marathon Organizers Looking to Move Event From Springs to Southampton Village

The event has taken place in Springs since its inception.

The Hamptons Marathon organizers are looking to move the event from Springs to Southampton Village, according to a report in 27east.

The event founders, Diane Weinberger and Amanda Moszkowski, made an official pitch to the Southampton Village Board during a meeting last Thursday, proposing two routes - one through residential parts of the Village and one through streets with retail stores, according to the report.

The race has taken place in Springs since its inception in 2007, but has now “outgrown” the route since the amount participants has grown over the years, now averaging about 2,000 runners (about 1,700 in the half-marathon, and 400 in the full marathon), 27east reports. In addition, local fire departments have complained about traffic and road closures during the race.
