Hamptons Marathon Ranked On 25 World's Best Marathons List
The race was ranked on the world's 25 best marathons according to The Active Times.

The Hamptons Marathon was ranked #18 in The Active Times’ list of the 25 World’s Best Marathons.
“We are thrilled and humbled to have been named one of the Top 25 Marathons in the World,” the Hamptons Marathon & Half Facebook page reads. “When we set out to create the Hamptons Marathon eight years ago, we could could only imagine this. To all of our runners, thank you for your support and enthusiasm.”
The last Marathon & Half took place on Sept. 27 in East Hampton, and the next race will take place in December 2015.

“One of the most scenic marathons in the world comes complete with a small-town feel, great organization and personal emails from the organizers leading up to race day,” the article in The Active Times reads. ”The race is regularly described as tranquil and quiet, certainly a contrast to the top spots on our list, but this is a must-run race for those looking to get away and enjoy a relaxing course. Past finishers recommend winding down post-race with a walk on the beach.”
Some factors for choosing the marathons on the list, according to The Active Times includes, a course that has a scenic view, an organized race and a well-planned event.

“[To rank the races], we first began with some simple statistics from Running USA that identified which 2013 marathons were the largest in the United States and the world. We also factored in the opinions of our readers,” according to The Active Times.
“To tie it all together, we created a scoring system that awarded points for everything from course quality, event organization and fan ratings based off runner reviews on MarathonGuide.com to the number of 2013 finishers and of course, votes and comments from our reader survey.”
