Hamptons Vigil Scheduled To Mourn Victims Of Synagogue Shooting

"We mourn, but we don't sit paralyzed in fear. "

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A vigil will be held in East Hampton Thursday to remember lives lost in a horrific synagogue shooting Saturday in Pittsburgh, PA.

According to the Jewish Center of the Hamptons, the "Vigil for the Pittsburgh Jewish Community," will be held on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at their facility, located at 44 Woods Lane in East Hampton.

"Let the world know that we stand together for hope and stand united against the darkness of prejudice and anti-Semitism," a Facebook post read. "The hearts of the Jewish community mourn the lives of Jews murdered during their Shabbat morning prayer service at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. What's more, our sense of collective security has been shaken. We mourn, but we don't sit paralyzed in fear. When tragedies like this happen, we shouldn't forget the power of community to comfort, and the power of prayer to heal."
