The new parking field, estimated to add 30 new parking spaces, will be located at the intersection of S. Edison Street and S. Euclid Avenue, across the street from an existing municipal parking field.
The commercially zoned parcel was purchased by the Town of East Hampton, and $250,000 from Assemblyman Thiele and $100,000 from Senator Ken LaValle in State capital funding will be used to construct the field and subsequent infrastructure.

The idea for the lot was first announced about a month ago when Town officials reached out to Thiele and LaValle for assistance.
The Town purchased a parcel of land across from the local post office about four or five months ago and is now hoping to turn it into a lot due to the “lack of public parking in downtown Montauk,” according to Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell.
In Septmeber, Cantwell said that both officials have ”expressed interest in helping to pay for the parking lot” and that there has been support from local residents on this project.
