Intoxicated Driver Cuffed After Crashing Car: Police

The drunk driver was busted on New Year's Eve, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A drunk driver was busted after he crashed his car on New Year's Eve, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Juan Carlos Coello-Yunga, 31, was arrested on Dec. 31 at 1:02 a.m. after driving a green 2002 Honda west on Oakview Highway near Three Mile Harbor Road and crashing his vehicle.

Upon investigation, he was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet; he also failed all standardized field sobriety tests administered, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, and with operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent alcohol or more in blood, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.

Cash bail was set at $500, police said.
