Wainscott Hardware, located on 338 Montauk Highway, received the Business Community Award from the Wainscott Citizens Advisory Committee earlier this month, according to 27east.
The store is run by Chilean native, Juan Carlos Diaz and his daughter Maria Bartelme, 27east reports.

Diaz, who has lived in East Hampton since 1993, opened up the store in 2012 to help himself and other local contractors who work late hours on various jobs, according to 27east.
He helps the working community by keeping the store open later than most stores, often staying open until 6 or 7 p.m., 27east reports.

“We need stuff when it’s late and everyone is closed,” Diaz told 27east.
The Business Community Award is given each year to business that ‘added to the aesthetics of the downtown business corridor by keeping lawns manicured and landscaped, and displaying attractive storefronts’, according to 27east.
