Glen Cove Police: New Phone Scam Targets Elderly

A caller from a company named "Leigh High" tells residents their water will be turned off unless they send immediate payment.

A phone scam appears to be targeting elderly Glen Cove residents, authorities said.

Glen Cove Police say elderly residents are being contacted by someone from a company named “Leigh High,” claiming to represent the City Of Glen Cove Water Department. The caller says the water to the person’s home will be turned off for nonpayment and requests immediate payment.

Police say Leigh High is not a legitimate company, and that phone calls of this nature should not be entertained.
