Cops Probe Most Recent Threat to Half Hollow Hills East

Student charged with unauthorized computer use; police say they are investigating if school threats are related to the charge.

Suffolk County Police have beefed up patrols at Half Hollow Hills East Wednesday, following a new threat directed at the high school.

News of the threat comes days after a 16-year-old Half Hollow Hills East student was arrested in connection with accessing a school computer without authorization, officials said.

Suffolk County Police say Salvatore Bracco, 16, of Melville, was arrested Monday.

“We have confirmed that we are aware of the threat and all threats are taken seriously,” a police spokesperson told Patch. “There is a police presence at Half Hollow Hills East today.”

Now, detectives are investigating if the unauthorized use is related to the school threats made in the district in October and November.

On Nov. 6, police investigated a reported threat toward Half Hollow Hills East. The school was searched, but no suspicious items were located, police said.

According to one report, threats were sent to the school and to Suffolk Police.

Media outlets reported that a note to the school district stated: “im gonna blow up hills east tmrw at 9 am . . . don’t try to stop me; you will all die.” The note to police said “I am bombing Half Hollow Hills East Tomorrow at 9 pm sharpp.”

Police received also received an email threat, prompting “a dismissal for High School East at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 3,” according to Newsday.
