Police: Patchogue Teens Stole Packages From in Front of Homes
Thefts occurred in Sayville and Bayport, police say.

Two local teens have been charged with stealing packages from in front of homes in Sayville and Bayport, police said Wednesday.
In response to multiple 911 calls reporting possible thefts of packages that had been delivered to homes in the area, police say Fifth Precinct officer Michael Ferrara located a vehicle matching the description given by callers on Montauk Highway in Blue Point at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.
In the vehicle, a Chrysler Sebring, were multiple packages that had been taken from homes and Ferrara arrested the vehicle’s two occupants, 18-year-old Aaron Diaz and a 16-year-old who Patch is not naming because he is a minor.

Following further investigation, Diaz, of East Patchogue, and the 16-year-old, of Patchogue, were both charged with nine counts of petty larceny. Diaz was also charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon for possessing a switchblade, police said.

The two teens were scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Wednesday.
