Photos: South Fork Residents Celebrate Earth Day

The South Fork Natural History Museum and Nature Center hosted their annual celebration this past Saturday.

With temperatures finally reaching 74 degrees this past Saturday, it was a perfect day to celebrate Earth Day in the South Fork.

That’s exactly what Hamptons residents came out to do during the South Fork Natural History Museum and Nature Center’s Earth Day Celebration.

The celebration started off at 8:30 a.m. with a beach cleanup at Long Beach in Noyac.

Cleanup Team Leader Frank Quevedo, South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo) Executive Director, led participants to help clean the beach debris dangerous to birds and marine life.

Then from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Museum hosted an Open House where guests were able to explore the museum, located in Bridgehampton.

‘The Fabulous Nature Nick and His Live Animal Family’ show started at 2:30 p.m. where guests where able to get up-close and friendly with the animals in Nature Nick’s family including: a kangaroo, monkey, snake, bird of prey, and more.

The live animal presentation was performed by magician, professional animal trainer, and Long Island News 12’s resident animal expert, Nature Nick.

Attendees included the Siritunga and Fraiser families, Molly Adams (SoFo Nature Educator), Tyler Armstrong (SoFo Nature Educator), SoFo Executive Director Frank Quevedo with SoFo Nature Educator Melanie Meade, Jacki and Avery Brew, among others.
