Police: East Hampton Man Arrested on Drug Charges
The arrest was made on Saturday morning.

An East Hampton man was arrested on drug charges in East Hampton Village on Saturday morning, according to Village Police.
Ronald King, 61, was stopped by an officer for having an expired registration sticker, police said.

When the officer approached the car to speak to King, a strong odor of a burnt chemical substance was coming from the vehicle, according to police.

Upon further investigation, the officer noticed that King’s speech was slurred, his pupils were constricted, and he fumbled with papers while trying to find his license and registration, police said.
He was asked to perform roadside sobriety tests, police said.

He failed the test and showed signs of narcotic use, according to police.
During a search of the inside of King’s car, the officer found a metal pipe that contained a white rock like substance partially burned in the passenger seat, police said.
King was place under arrest for seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, first degree operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, and other traffic violations, according to police.
He was transported to headquarters for processing.
