Sag Harbor Village Board to Consider Replacing Current Moratorium

The board will be discussing the law during a meeting on Wednesday.

The Sag Harbor Village Board will be voting on whether or not to replace the current moratorium with one that has less restrictions this week.

The board will be considering the new moratorium during a special meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 30 starting at 8:30 a.m. at Municipal Building located on Main Street.

The new moratorium would allow all residential development projects that meet the requirements of the new proposed gross floor area ratio law, to continue and would limit would limit house size to a percentage of its lot size, according to a report in Sag Harbor Online.

In addition, the law would allow residents who are exempt or excluded form the moratorium to proceed with their applications under the current village code and the applicants who received approval from the village’s regulatory board before the moratorium is put in place can apply for relief, 27east reports.

The current moratorium is set to expire in January and the new moratorium and the village board should vote on the proposed laws in March.
