School Board Names Richard Burns Interim East Hampton Super

Richard Burns, the director of pupil personnel services, has been named the interim superintendent of the East Hampton School District.

In a statement issued Monday morning, the East Hampton School Board said, "Mr. Burns is an excellent administrator with deep roots in the community and a strong commitment to the District’s children. He has done an outstanding job as head of PPS and we believe that he is ideally suited to lead the district during our search for a permanent superintendent."

Seven candidates for the position were interviewed over two weeks, including Thomas Lamorgese, who retired as the middle school principal in June, and . 

"Each of the candidates is highly capable, passionate and committed to our district and its students," the statement said.
