A good can of gold spray paint can quickly transform the simplest items into something beautiful. Now we are not re-inventing the wheel here. Of course gourds and pumpkins are a perfect vessel for flower arrangements on Thanksgiving. They are festive, fitting and can be tossed right out with the flowers a few days later. That said, a bit of spray paint can take this even up another notch!

What you will need:

*3-4 Gourds, Pumpkins, Acorn Squash, Butternut Squash (try and grab ones that have a flat bottom and will stand up on their own without “webble-wobbling” (yes that is an official word).

*a Knife

* a Scissor

* a variety of flowers (go for textures AND beauty) HINT: find a photo of a flower arrangement that you like and use that as a color guide when shopping

* Can of Krylon Metallic Gold Bright Spray Paint

... and that’s it!

INSTRUCTIONS (estimated time: 45 minutes)

* Create a hole in the top of the gourd with a knife HINT: Point the knife downwards and do multiple “stabs” in a circle - this will pop out the squash then use a spoon to scoop

* Spray Paint the gourds. This is pretty easy - a heavy coat will actually create a really beautiful metal look by dripping downwards

* Cut all your flowers and put in a bucket while the spray paint dries - this will help you keep organized and get the flowers some water

* Arrange the flowers in the ‘vases”

* add water (yes believe it or not - it stays right in there!)

Voila! You now have a gorgeous tablescape for Thanksgiving.
