175 Homes Without Power Townwide: Supervisor

BREAKING: "Significant beach erosion" has occurred already, said East Hampton Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Update: 8:40 p.m.: According to East Hampton Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell, there are about 175 PSEG customers without power townwide; PSEG is on site and estimates restoration overnight. Old Montauk Highway is partially closed due to a fallen pole or tree; emergency personnel have responded. High wind and tides have caused "significant beach erosion," he said, adding that he was not aware of any structures threatened at this time. Overnight rain and wind are likely to cause fallen trees, branches, and fences, Cantwell said.
