Town Hit Hard By 'Substantial Beach Erosion' After Storm: Supervisor

BREAKING: Approximately 500 PSEG customers lost power during the storm, East Hampton Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Monday's nor'easter left its mark on East Hampton and Montauk.

According to East Hampton Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell, the storm caused "substantial beach erosion in various locations along the oceanside."

In addition, he said, there was moderate damage to the beach and dune in downtown Montauk.

During the height of the storm, approximately 500 PSEG customers were left without power, he said; PSEG has been working to restore service.

According to Cantwell and East Hampton Town Highway Supervisor Stephen Lynch several trees were down, partially blocking streets; the highway department was working Tuesday morning, clearing up the roads.

Some roads impacted by flooding and downed limbs included Gerard Drive, Hands Creek Road, and Neck Path, with tree limbs down on Atlantic Avenue, Town Lane and Neck Path, Lynch said.
