Tyler Project to Host "Walk For Awareness" in Montauk on Nov. 30

The money will go towards providing counseling, educational services and programs for students, young adults and families in the area.

The Tyler Project will be hosting a “Walk for Awareness” on around Fort Pond in Montauk on Sunday, Nov. 30.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the walk will start at 10 a.m. at the flagpole at the center green in Montauk Village.

Participants may bring their dog, but they must be on a leash.

Donations will be collected at the signup area for the Tyler Project.

The Tyler Project was established to increase and improve coordination and delivery of mental health services for students, young adults and families in our community.

Funding will be used for counseling, educational services and programs to help predict and prevent some of the crises facing young people today.

According to a fact sheet from the founder of the Tyler Foundation, Valinda Valcich, suicide ins the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S.

“It seems to be an epidemic,” Valcich said.
