According to the East Hampton Town Police, the hacking of the Montauk Manor website was not directed specifically at the Manor, and there is no reason to believe there is any direct threat towards the Manor, Montauk or the Town of East Hampton.
The situation appears to be a case of an out of state, internet business that hosts web sites having been hacked, resulting in many businesses around the country experiencing the same issue, police said.
