Homeless Nassau Man Robbed The Same Store Multiple Times: Police

Police say he was arrested after being caught on video during his latest break in.

A homeless man was arrested on Sunday and charged with a string of burglaries in Nassau County, many of which targeted the same store.

According to police, Thomas Briel, 45, threw a brick through the glass door of Twisted Smoke Shop, located at 347 Merrick Ave. in East Meadow, at 12:40 a.m. on Sunday. He then went inside and stole multiple boxes of cigarettes, police said.

Officers reviewed footage from the store's security camera and were able to get an image of Briel, police said. He was located later in Hempstead and arrested.

Police say that an investigation showed that Briel was responsible for multiple other burglaries, all of which occurred in Hempstead.

Briel is charged with seven counts of third-degree burglary. He is scheduled to be arraigned on July 22 in First District Court in Hempstead.
