Man Robs East Meadow Gold Shop, Punches Employee

EAST MEADOW, NY - Police are looking for a man who robbed a gold shop in East Meadow Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the man entered the We Buy Gold store located at 2240 Hempstead Turnpike, across the street from Nassau University Medical Center, around 4 p.m. and offered to sell a Saks Fifth Avenue gift card worth $250 for $125 to the clerk.

The man grabbed the money from the clerk's hand and a struggle ensued, police said. The man punched the clerk in the face several times before fleeing on foot with the money and the card, police said.

The robber was described as black, 5-foot-6, 125 pounds, wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, with black hair and a black goatee.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
