Police Charge Man with Robbing the Same Businesses Multiple Times

BREAKING: He allegedly stole thousands of dollars of tools during multiple break-ins over a month.

Nassau Police arrested and charged a man with stealing thousands of dollars of tools from two Uniondale businesses on multiple occassions.

According to detectives, officers received a call for a suspicious person climbing over the fence of Montalvan Fence, located at 891 Nassau Road in Uniondale. Officers located Jerry Yarbrough, 50, of Webb Avenue, Hempstead, exiting a rear yard on Uniondale Avenue and placed him under arrest.

Police say an investigation determined that Yarbrough broke into Montalvan Fence and Valle Signs and Awnings, located at 889 Nassau Road in Uniondale, on the following dates:

  • Sept. 23 at 12:13 a.m., Yarbrough entered Montalvan Fence and stole tools worth more than $1,400.
  • Oct. 12 at 12:30 a.m., Yarbrough entered Montalvan Fence and stole tools worth more than $1,45o.
  • Oct. 13 at 12:58 a.m., Yarbrough entered Valle Signs and Awnings and stole tools worth more than $800.
  • Oct. 24, Yarbrough entered Valle Signs and Awnings multiple times between 2 and 4 a.m. and stole tools from a garage and vehicles worth more than $2,000.

Yarbrough is charged with third degree burglary, three counts of fourth degree grand larceny, petit larceny, fourth degree criminal mischief and third degree criminal trespassing. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
