Police: Drunk Driver Struck 3 Outside East Meadow Club

Suffolk County man faces assault, DWI, weapon charges for incident at Aura Night Club Sunday morning, cops said.

A Suffolk County man was drunk at the wheel when he struck several people outside an East Meadow nightclub early Sunday morning, according to Nassau County Police.

Officers were called to Aura Night Club on Hempstead Turnpike at 2:45 a.m. for a disturbance in a parking lot, police said. As responding officers arrived, several witnesses pointed out a gray Honda that was leaving the scene and said it had struck three people, police said.

Police stopped the car, driven by Patrick Celifie, 27, of Lindenhurst, before it left the premises, cops said.

Officers discovered Celifie was under the influence of alcohol and took him into custody, cops said. He was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment of an ankle injury he sustained before police arrived, cops said.

The three 27-year-old men Celifie allegedly struck were brought by ambulance to the hospital for various ankle, hip, and arm injuries, police said.

Celifie was charged with three counts of second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, driving while intoxicated, and possession of marijuana. He will be arraigned as soon as he is well enough.
