Armed Man Robs Kids Clothing Store, Escapes Police Capture

An armed man robbed a kids clothing store in Valley Stream Sunday afternoon and then escaped police who came searching for him.

According to detectives, a man entered Kidz Stuff, located at 205 Rockaway Ave. in Valley Stream, at 3:57 p.m., approached an employee while displaying a handgun from his waistband and demanded the cash register to be opened. After the employee emptied out the register, the robber left the store through the back door and was seen entering a car, believed to be a Ford Escape, and fled the area.

Information received at the scene by police officers, and a subsequent investigation, led them to a home on East Rockaway Road in Hewlett, where the robber was believed to be located. However, the robber fled before police arrived.

The robber is a white man, 6-foot to 6-foot-2 and approximately 150 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie, a black cloth covering the lower part of his face and light colored blue jeans.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
