Armed Robbers Steal Phones, Cash from Verizon Store

BREAKING: Police are searching for the two men who held up the store Monday afternoon.

Two men robbed a Verizon Store in Valley Stream at gunpoint Monday afternoon, and police are searching for them.

According to Robbery Squad detectives, two men entered the Verizon store located at 60 E. Merrick Road at 1:37 p.m., displayed a handgun and demanded phones. The robbers stole several cell phones and an undetermined amount of cash from the store safe. They fled the scene on foot southbound on South Cottage Avenue onto East Lincoln Avenue.

The first robber was a black man, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with thin build, wearing a mask, a black hooded sweatshirt and ripped blue jeans carrying a handgun. The second robber was also a black man, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with a thin build, wearing a mask, a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark colored jeans.

There were two employees and one customer inside the store at the time of the robbery. There were no reported injuries.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
