Man Charged With Robbing Elmont Gas Station: Police

The man was arrested in front of his home on Sunday morning, police say.

ELMONT, NY - An Elmont man was arrested for robbing a gas station in Elmont on Sunday morning, according to Nassau County Police.

Joseph A. Chevez, 34, entered the Shell Gas Station at 1360 Hempstead Turnpike at about 6:27 a.m. and demanded money from the 27-year-old man, according to police.

The man complied and Chevez fled the scene on foot northbound onto Covert Avenue, according to police.

An investigation lead to his arrest in front of his home on Sunday at 9:06 a.m, police said.

There were no reported injuries.

Chevez is being charged with third degree robbery, police said.
