Man Robs 7-Eleven, Sets Bus on Fire to Cover His Tracks
BREAKING: He made his getaway and then lit the bus on fire in the Green Acres Mall parking lot.

Police are searching for a man that robbed a 7-Eleven in Hewlett, escaped on a bus and then lit it on fire Friday morning.
The Fourth Squad is investigating a Robbery that occurred on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 8:05 a.m. in Hewlett.
According to detectives, a man entered the 7-Eleven at 415 Mill Road in Hewlett at about 8 a.m. and pretended to shop. When the clerk opened the register, the man produced a black semi-automatic hand gun. He pulled the register drawer out and dumped the money into an empty cardboard box along with cigarettes. He also removed a second register drawer and fled the store with the drawer and the box.

The robber drove east on Mill Road in a large white bus similar to an Access-a-Ride Bus. The robber is described as a black man, wearing black pants, black sweatshirt and a black baseball cap.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., police were notified of a bus fire at the Green Acres Mall. It was determined that the bus on fire was the same one involved in the robbery. Arson/Bomb Squad detectives impounded the vehicle for further investigation.
