Man Severely Beaten by Would-Be Robber in Nassau
BREAKING: The man suffered a fractured skull from the attack.

A man was severely beaten by a would-be robber in Inwood Thursday morning.
According to detectives, a 54-year-old man was in Convenience Grocery, located at 15 Bayview Ave., at 10:20 a.m. when a man armed with a handgun entered the store. The robber and the man struggled, and a shot was fired from the gun. The man fell to the floor, and then the robber began to beat him with the pistol, causing a fractured skull and many cuts. No injuries were sustained from the shot.
The robber fled on foot westbound on Bayview Avenue. There was one employee in the store at the time of the incident who did not suffer any injuries. No proceeds were taken.

The robber is described as a black man with a beard in his mid-30s, 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a slim build, wearing a black skull cap, blue sweater and a black jacket.
Detectives ask anyone with information about this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
