Nassau Man Arrested After Home Invasion

BREAKING: Police say he pushed the homeowner out of the way in an attempt to burglarize the home.

An Inwood man forced his way into an Inwood house Monday night while the owner was home and attempted to burglarize it, police said.

According to detectives, Jaquan Grandy, 23, of Grand Central Place, forced his way through the front door of a Janet Avenue home at 11:55 p.m. As he entered, police say he pushed a 68-year-old woman into the house and ran upstairs. The woman fled the house and a neighbor who saw Grandy break into the home called 911. Officers responded to the call and placed Grandy under arrest at the scene without incident. No injuries were reported.

Grandy is charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree attempted assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
