6-Year-Old Girl Hit by Car While Attempting to Cross Woodmere Street

The girl was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

WOODMERE, NY - A 6-year-old girl was hospitalized after she was hit by a car while crossing the street in Woodmere on Wednesday afternoon, according to Nassau Police.

While traveling southbound on Barnard Avenue in her 2015 Infiniti, the 39-year-old driver was involved in a side swipe collision with the child who was attempting to cross Barnard Avenue near Poe Street on her way home at 1:45 p.m.

The girl suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

Brake and safety checks were performed at the scene on the car and the accident has been deemed to be a non-criminal event, police said.
