Two Separate Break-Ins Spark Police Investigation

The two robberies have similarities. Police are seeking the public's help in getting information.

The Nassau County Police Department is investigating two separate burglaries that happened over the weekend in the Five Towns.

In the first incident, police responded to an alarm at Chase Bank at 446 Central Ave. in Cedarhurst at 5:20 a.m. When they arrived, officers saw that someone had entered the bank through the roof, but hadn't taken anything.

In the second robbery, a manager at Staples, located at 345 Rockaway Turnpike in Lawrence, entered the store at 7:25 a.m. and found that several laptops and tablet computers were stolen. Police investigated and found that someone had broken into the store through the roof from an adjoining store. Nothing was taken from the other building.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding either crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
