FLORAL PARK, NY - A Brooklyn teen was arrested after he crashed a stolen car and was found with stolen credit cards and wallets in Floral Park on Tuesday morning, according to Nassau County Police.

Floral Park Police officers in an unmarked car saw 18-year-old Justin Kirlew, driving a white Nissan eastbound on Jericho Turnpike by Van Buren Avenue at around 5:40 a.m., police said.

The car changed lanes without signaling and the officers tried to stop the car after it turned southbound on Park Avenue, police said.

The car refused to stop and attempted to evade police before losing control on Jericho Turnpike and South 3rd Street in New Hyde Park, colliding with a parked car and a tree, police said.

Kirlew fled on foot and was apprehended a short time later in the driveway of a 4th Street home with the assistance of Nassau County Police, according to police.

An investigation revealed the car was stolen and a second man, described as wearing a gray jacket and a gray hat, fled on foot westbound on Jericho Turnpike, police said.

During the arrest processing, Kirlew was found to be in possession of credit cards and wallets from larcenies which occurred in Elmont. The investigation is ongoing.

Kirlew is charged with three counts of fourth degree grand, second degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and several vehicle and traffic law violations.

He will be arraigned on Wednesday.
