Valley Stream Gas Station Robbed at Knifepoint

The man took cash and cigarettes before fleeing Sunday night, police say.

A Valley Stream gas station was robbed at knifepoint on Sunday night, according to Nassau County Police.

A man entered the Valero Gas Station on 192 E. Sunrise Highway, displayed a large knife to the counter clerk and demanded that he open the stores register, police said.

After complying, the man took cash and several boxes of Newport cigarettes, according to police.

He then fled the store and was last seen heading east on Sunrise Highway and then south on Bismark Avenue.

The uninjured clerk, who was the only one in the store at the time, described the man as being 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 with a medium build, police said.

He was wearing a black jacket over a blue hooded sweat shirt, black gloves and scarf around his face.
