GARDEN CITY, NY — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is planning to address a crowd on Long Island.

DeSantis will appear at the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Saturday evening.

The event is called "The Florida Blueprint," and while DeSantis hasn't officially announced a run for the presidency, the website's description alludes to that possibility.

"[He] created a blueprint for freedom in Florida that serves as a model for the rest of the nation. No leader has accomplished more for his state than Governor DeSantis, and he is now sharing this winning blueprint with the country."

The Long Island appearance, however, is being decried by one political party.

"Ron DeSantis has welcomed guns into school classrooms and tried to forcibly separate trans children from their parents," Sochie Nnaemeka, director of the New York Working Families Party, said. "His rhetoric is a danger to people who want their children to grow up safe and secure. By receiving him with open arms, Long Island Republicans like Nick LaLota, Anthony D’Esposito, and George Santos are inviting hate and violence into our communities.”

The event is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. and last approximately three hours.
