According to New York State, the check may already be in the mail.

If all goes according to plan, you should get your STAR tax rebate checks from the state soon.

The state has a website that tracks when the rebate checks are being sent. Though it doesn't have exact dates, you can get a rough estimate of when the checks will be put in the mail. You can check your school district's status by clicking here.

The checks for Long Island are supposed to go out this month, and will continue being mailed until everyone has received theirs.

The STAR program is the School Tax Rebate program, which helps homeowners afford their school taxes. It's open to anyone with a household income of $500,000 or less.

Basic STAR exempts the first $30,000 of a home's value from taxes. Enhanced STAR, which is for lower-income households, exempts the first $68,700 for a home's value from taxes.
