Laura Gillen's First Town Board Meeting Set For Tonight

Here's what you need to know about what's going on, and how you can watch the Democrat's first meeting.

Laura Gillen's first Town of Hempstead Board Meeting as the new supervisor is scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. Here's what you need to know.

Most of the items that are being voted on at the meeting tonight are pretty standard: parking matters, allowing parade permits and other things like that. There will also be a slew of new appointments that are standard for a change in leadership.

However, the Town Board will be voting on firing two holdovers from the Santino administration: Matthew Coleman, Santino's senior policy advisor, and Theresa Gaffney, Santino's former executive assistant.

Coleman and Gaffney were the only ones left off the massive list of employees that Santino and many other Republicans on the board pushed through raises and transfers for at his last meeting in December. If the measure passes, Coleman and Gaffney would be terminated immediately.

If you want to attend the meeting in person, Town Hall is located at 1 Washington St. in Hempstead. If you can't make it out tonight, you can also watch a live stream of the meeting by clicking here. The town also now archives its meeting footage, so you can watch it at a later date.
