Nassau Police Searching For Hit-And-Run Driver

Police say the driver seriously injured a pedestrian Saturday night and fled the scene.

Nassau County police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who seriously injured a pedestrian in Hempstead Saturday night.

According to police, a man was crossing Front Street at 11:15 p.m., near the intersection with Peninsula Boulevard, when he was struck by a grey or silver sedan heading east on Front Street. The car left the scene without stopping.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous, and you could receive a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
