Town Of Hempstead Election Results: Republicans Retake Control

See who won the race for supervisor, town board and more.

The results are in for many races in the Town of Hempstead, and it seems that Republicans have retaken control of much of the township. However, the race for Hempstead Town Supervisor is still too close to call.

With 99.25 percent of precincts reporting, in the race for Town Clerk, Republican Kate Murray defeated incumbent Democrat Sylvia Cabana, 73,703 to 70,317.

For Receiver of Taxes, Republican Jeanine Driscoll defeated Democrat Chandra Ortiz 75,809 to 67,262. They were both vying for the seat vacated by Donald Clavin.

There were three seats up for election this year on the Town Board. In the Second District, incumbent Republican Thomas Muscarella defeated Democratic challenger Thomas Tweedy 13,154 to 10.452, with 98.35 percent of precincts reporting. In the Third District, Republican incumbent Bruce Blakeman held off a challenge from Democrat Shari Renne James 13,032 to 9,833, with 99.12 percent of precincts reporting. And in the Fifth District, Republican Christopher Carini defeated Democrat Lora Webster 15,018 to 13,537.
